Why am I unimpressed?
I got home last night from work and discovered my house had been broken into.
Why am I impressed?
Fortunately my new flame had agreed to come over for a late coffee and a chat, so while I sat on the couch in tears and shaking, my knight in shining armour took control and called the police, checked everything was clear, fetched me tissues and then just looked after me.
This was only our 5th date, so still very early into the r/ship and yet he went above and beyond the call of duty and even stayed with me during the night, checking every little noise that made me jump.
The bastards had come through the bathroom, ransacked my bedroom and finally raided the kitchen, stealing a bottle of Sprite, a packet of 2min noodles and my friggin double coated TimTams! I hadn't even opened the packet!
All shoes and rabbits remained unharmed, for which I am thankful.
Police came early this afternoon and dusted the place for prints (and cleaned up after themselves, which I was pleased to discover), and although it was quite interesting to watch - way better than CSI - he only got a couple of prints, as it appears he/she/they wore gloves.
It is such a horrible feeling knowing someone has been in your space pawing through your drawers, closets and fridge.
My landlady is arranging for more security locks and screens to be put on the rest of my windows tomorrow.
Meanwhile, both Mum and Bevan are taking very good care of me.
My heroes.

Oh, poor Janine! I'm so sorry to hear you got burglarised ... :( That's most upsetting.
But very lucky that someone was with you when you got home.
I hope either the police or karma catches up quickly with whoever is responsible.
Sorry to hear about the break-in... that's a very scary thing to happen. My house got broken into when I was a kid, but I was so young that I didn't have to deal with any of the grown-up aftermath. Glad to hear the shoes and the bunny survived!! Too bad about the TimTams, though... they don't sell those in Canada, but I have VERY fond memories of them from my time in Australia.
The new guy sounds like a keeper... hope it all works out for you - you deserve the fairy tale ending :)
