And only a day shift this Tuesday and then I'm done! :(
Am trying to fill in all the "I've always Wanted Tos" before we close - tonight Jess and I played hide and seek between sessions and on Tuesday I must remember to bring a pair of pants so I can cartwheel the lentgh of the foyer! Haha! Yup, I'm nuts, but I've alwasy wanted to! It's so long and straight.....
In other news, I may have a new job! In fact I'm 99% sure I got the job at Carlton Party Hire. I got a phone call tonight asking me to go in AGAIN tomorrow to "go over papers and things"! Yay!
Tomorrow is also my lubbly Mama's birthday so am currently planning her an awesome birthday cake. Will post pics when it's done!
OK, review time:
First up a theatre review of Riverlea Theatre's The Cemetery Club. I went along because my fabulous drama teacher / good friend is in it and it is directed by another good friend. The blurb didn't make it sound all that exciting, but it was fab! Sweet, sad and awfully funny. "Some one stole the lightswitch" had me in hysterics all the way home!......You had to be there.
Anyway, I went preview night, so there is still plenty of time for you all to get your bottoms down there to see it! Go!
WALL.E - what a sweet film. I actually clapped aloud several times.....which was ok, coz I had the cinema to myself! Have been waiting for this one for awhile and I was not disappointed....unlike The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon Emperor. Utter crap. I nearly walked out, but morbid curiosity kept me there until the end.
Now, I am one of The Mummy films' loyalist followers, but this was bad. First of all is the fact that Rachel Weisz was replaced. Now, Maria Bello is great and I have nothing against her, but I HATE it when they just replace one character with another actor instead of writing them out and adding a new character. It never works!
Also, the humour in this one was completely nonexistant. I believe there were two jokes...the first which takes place at the book signing, is apparently one everyone misses according to my conversations with SkyCity employees. The second involves vomit. Nuff said.
Jonathon is very underused, which is a shame because he is the only character to remain the same. The others have been changed beyond recognition.
In short, don't bother. If you want to see it, wait till it's on tv.
One good thing about it....the costumes. 40s fabulousness. Brilliant.
And now a Friday Five....
1. Who is your favorite author?
I have several. Margaret Mitchell, LM Montgomery, Nicholas Sparks and Paullina Simons to name but a few.
2. What is your favorite book/series?
Again, several! Gone With the Wind, Anne of Green Gables, The Notebook and The Bronze Horseman by the afore mentioned authors respectively.
3. Who is a book hero you most wish to be like?
Tatiana in The Bronze Horseman or Scarlett O'Hara.
4. Who is a book character that you envy?
Scarlett O'Hara gets Rhett Butler. What's not to envy?!
5. Which book do you wished you lived in?
D'uh! The Faraway Tree!

Bored at work? Time for a Friday Five!
What did you want to be when you were a kid?
An actress, ballerina, singer, teacher......
What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
Um....I guess the state of my life up until being made redundant! Live in my own wee house, own my second car, have nice things, a good and fun job and my own wee business! Not bad for someone with no ambition!
What is your dream job?
Playing Snow White at Disneyland. But really, I just want to be a housewife!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Marching along in the Disneyland parade or pregnant, barefoot and in the kitchen! Either's good!
What does it take to make you happy?
Shoes, chocolate and bunny kisses.

A Friday Five.....
1. If you were to die today, what would your last words be?
"And thus, with a kiss I die" preferably followed by a long intense snog!
2. What would you want your epitaph to say?
"Veni. Vidi. Visa. - I came. I saw. I shopped."
3. What song would you want played at your funeral?
"My Way" by Frank Sinatra and "Non, je ne regrette Rien" by Edith Piaf and just for giggles "Waterloo" by ABBA!
4. In lieu of flowers, what should loved ones do in your honour?
Blow lots and lots of bubbles outside the church! And respect my wishes to have my ashes used to make diamonds. Pink ones. And hopefully enough for me to spend all eternity as a tiara! I'm serious! A company in Switzerland actually does this!
5. What unfinished business would you wrap up?
I'd organise my funeral so no one else had to.

Punk ass kids and fat ass bunnies
So, I get a phone call this morning at about 8ish from CYF. Now, being this early I of course am not awake, so I immediately thought they were going to take my babies away from me......then I realised I don't actually have any babies!
Turns out the punk ass kid who broke into my old house in Hamilton has had the law catch up with him and they are doing a mediation / restorative justice programme thingee with him in Kawarau (where most of his offences took place) and I am invited.
I really don't think I'll bother. Apparently this little cretin has already failed this programme once before, so I doubt this time will be any different.
Will put a submission in writing though to get back reparation for the stuff he stole from me.
In other news, had a huge panic yesterday morning when I got up and noticed as I was making my coffee that Miss Belle wasn't standing on my feet.
Had a look under the table where she usually sits and there she was lying in her own wees.
Now, rabbits are very clean creatures so I knew something was terribly wrong. And then when I got the travel cage and pput her in, she went in no trouble! Something was definately wrong!
Rushed her to the vet, where I had to leave her as I had to work that day.
Spent the morning waiting for a phone call where I was sure the vet would tell me she was dead from eating something poisonous in the garden, and then I got the call.
Apparently the whole exercise thing had left Miss Belle extremely stiff and sore and thus, the litter box proved to be just too far away, so she didn't bother.
Turns out my little couch potato is far too fat and I have to put her on a diet!
And, I was most surprised to hear that she was extremely friendly to all the nurses and enjoyed being made a fuss of! My snobby diva rabbit? Hmm.
Anyway, all is good now, although I keep getting headbutted to put more food in the dish.

T minus 15 days......
until Rialto closes and I find myself an unemployed bum.
Nope, still no job and I AM FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!
It is probably the reason why I find myself with a cold. I haven't been sick for so long and I am not impressed.
I have had a couple of comments that perhaps it's karma. I broke up with Duncan on Saturday and woke up sick on Sunday.
I am pretty sure I did it as nicely as can possibly be done though. It was pretty hard, as I have never had a to dump a nice guy before. Scream and hurl abuse and threats at the cheaters, yes. But sweethearts? Never.
He was quite disappointed, but he did end up agreeing that there wasn't a lot of chemistry there.
I'm pretty proud of the fact that I didn't stick to the plkan I originally had before meeting him, which was just to settle for whoever should come along next. I have been so sick and tired of being lonely and trying to find someone, so thought, what the heck, the next guy who comes along, he's the one.
Turns out, I do value my relationships a whole lot more than that, as I just couldn't do it. I've been used and abused too many times to treat someone else like dirt.
So, I find myself single again. Sigh. I think I'm ok with it though.........Although perhaps I only feel that way because I have so much else weighing on my mind right now, like the fact that in 2 weeks I will be out of a job!!!!!
Nearly every email we get at work, and every second customer seems to mention the fact that we are closing, which is not helping my stress levels.
Ok, distraction blogging......
Cats! Fabulous show. One I had never seen before either, so that was exciting. Thouroughly enjoyed it. Fabulous dancing! Costumes and set were borrowed from Wellington, but are worth a mention anyway.
The only complaint is that HOS really needs to find new sound techs. When I saw Hair I couldn't hear a single word of the show because the band and the mikes were overpowering each other, and this time the mikes were very staticky and Grizabella's mike cut out in the middle of Memory, of all the songs!!!
Loved it all the same, as did my neighbour Lois who I took along. She's a funny old duck! Loves LilyBelle to bits though and often I find treats for wee Miss on the doorstep fresh from Lois' garden.
I also saw the film Then She Found Me the other day. I really need to stop looking forward to new films, even if they do star the dreamy and delectable Colin Firth!
It was quite slow and Helen Hunt's character annoyed the heck out of me. Also, I understand that this was her directorial debut, so please may I ask, why the need to focus on her breasts so much!!!!????? They aren't that great! Still, for some reason she felt compelled to walk around in her bra, in a shirt without a bra, and film a scene standing in front of a mirror trying to put her bra on! Not necessary Helen!
Matthew Broderick for some reason creeps me out and I can't take him seriously as an actor, except in The Producers, in a role I thought suited him nicely, so we won't dwell on him!
Bette Midler is a legend. I love her and she was great, as was yummy Colin. Drool..................
Sorry. What was I saying?
Anyway, back to gardens and bunnies, I got stuck into my garden this weekend and put up a "rabbit proof fence"......well kinda! They are just a few trellis panels which I blocked up the open areas with. Still a few gaps but as long as I position myself properly, Bella can have a good old frolic int he fresh air without having to struggle for an hour to get the harness on her!
She's still quite overwhelmed by the whole experience but enjoys little bursts of exercise. She needs to go on a bit of a diet, as she often needs to stop for rests! Oops! Bad mummy needs to stop giving her chocolate treats!
In other news, have finished lessons one and two of my correspondence course in travel consultancy, and am eagerly awaiting lessons three and four. Am loving it! Am have decided that travel consultancy is definately what I am meant to do.
Now, if I could only find a short term job to tide me over until I finish the course and can find an agency to hire me.....

If all else fails.....wear pink.
Ok, so the above has absolutely no relevance whatsoever to tonight's ramblings, but as I was stuck for a title, it'll have to do!
Right, so the self confessed "I hate school and don't ever want a career" woman has just enrolled herself in a correspondance course to get my certificate in travel consultancy so that I can get....gulp....a ca....car.....career.
I know.
Will see how it goes anyway.
Less than a month until we go and no job yet. 60ish CVs sent out and I only have my third interview this Thursday for a position as a dental assistant. Not too sure if it's my thing, but am getting desperate and intend to take the first offer that comes along, so fingers and toes crossed for me please!
In other news, I have a new leading man in my life, and so far so good. He's very sweet and makes me laugh, and he thinks my nuttiness is cute.
However.....I have realised that I am guilty of double standards.
90% of my female friends all live at home, which I think is a fab idea and I would too if I had a decent father. However, the thought of a 28 year old man still living at home just seems kinda wrong to me, even though I know it isn't!
What do you other ladies think?
Am looking forward to seeing the musical Cats tomorrow night. I'm taking my landlady / neighbour, so will post a review tomorrow night...or Wednesday.
In the meantime, a film review.
Mrs Ratcliffe's Revolution is based on a true story about a British family who move over to communist East Germany in the 60s and it's then up to the mother to get them all out again.
It stars the hilarious Catherine Tate, who I actually like! The "Am I bovvered?" sequence has me in fits all the time and I am full of admiration of the rapid fire delivery.
Anywho, the film isn't fabulous, but it's entertaining enough and has some good laughs.
***.5 stars.
Oh, and I nearly forgot; yet another convention has been added to the USA trip..... the Spoutwood Fairy Festival in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania which is co produced by my friend Posie the Fairy. A three day long festival of fairy fun in the sun on a huge farm in the middle of nowhere. It should be a blast.

I'm tempted to also go to the Rockabilly convention in Las Vegas, but it's a bit too expensive and I don't want to get all conventioned out!
