Tried to let Colin know I wasn't really interested yesterday, but turns out I could give Ado Annie (from the musical Oklahoma) a run for her money as the "girl who can't say no".
He's adament he came to see ME at work and just picked up a frozen coke since he was there and he thinks I'm a "cool chick" lol.
I tried to explain that I didn't feel a spark between us, but it seems he did.....and I have to admit, it feels rather nice to have a guy paying me so much attention - txting me just to say "Goodnight" etc.
In the past I have always been the one who has been the smitten one, which has led to me getting my heart broken more times than I care to remember, and I have often thought it is dangerous to be the one in a relationship that loves the most.
So, maybe it might be nice to know that it's possible for someone to care about me like that.
Not that I'm saying I plan to lead Colin on just to feel good about myself, coz I know how awful that feels.
I am however going to give him a chance to see if he can get over his shyness and possibly give him some "gentleman training"!

It must be love
He popped into work during his lunch break today to see me....Well actually no, he came to score a free frozen coke. Charming.
Am almost considering continuing this strange courting ritual to see just how bad it can possibly get!

Date the Third
15 minutes late; no apology; no comment on how nice I looked - yes, I'm a little vain, especially when I put a bit of effort into looking nice for a man, but I guess that's because....wait for it...he was wearing the same thing as yesterday!!!! What the hell is that about?! Unless he's a cartoon character with a whole wardrobe full of the same outfit, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that!
So I chose seats up the back, you know, just in case he wanted to hold my hand or something....apparently he didn't. Front row all the way for us!
Now, I admittedly don't know much about people my own age, but aren't 22 year old guys supposed to be all hands? Not that I want to be mauled, but well, it's been awhile since I've been shown any....affection and well, it kinda gets you paranoid that there's something wrong with you! Hmm...I kinda get how men get confused and annoyed with us, they get slapped if they make a move, and questioned about why, if they don't!
After the movie he walked me back to my car. That was it. Hmm.
So, so far you've probably noticed I'm not exactly smitten with this guy, but from the txts I've recieved after our dates, I think he is with me. Maybe he's just shy. I don't know. It could just be his age and lack of experience. If it is, then in the words of Liesl Von Trapp, "I need someone older and wiser, telling me what to do"! Turns out I may have been incredibly smart to avoid guys my own age.....Not that they have exactly been chasing after me in the first place. Sigh.
Anyway, call it curiosity, but I've agreed to see him again tomorrow night. I AM NOT DESPERATE! JUST BORED! And maybe if I keep telling myself that I may start to believe it. Good grief. Why is life so complicated? If this was the 19th century my parents would have found me a husband by now and I'd have nothing to worry about!
3 dates in as many days..hmm a bit much maybe, but it's better than being ignored for three weeks after giving a guy a special and quite personalised birthday present that you put a fair bit of thought into and that you 'thought' he actually liked. Bitter much? Yup.
Also, apparently tomorrow night, (according to his txt I got when I got home tonight) he reckons he's going to kiss me! Good grief. I'm dating a child.
I think tomorrow night is the final chance. If I'm not impressed, then that's it. Am not into leading people on, no matter how lonely I get.
He'd just better not be wearing the same clothes tomorrow!!!
As for Harry Potter, I liked it. (He didn't). So am definately going to watch the other movies and make a start on the series.
You know, if I do end up a bitter old spinster and need some sort of career after all to support myself, I suppose I could always start writing a Sex And The City-esque column!.....Minus all the sex of course :(

He likes me!
Not sure yet whether that's a yay or nay. Can't get over the baggy jeans. I am such a snob! Oh well, it's an excuse to go shopping and spend someone else's money I suppose!
We're going to see Harry Potter tonight, after he gets home from Church. Aww! Hopefully he's not one of those crazy christian types though. Hmm. And hopefully I won't be horribly lost since this will be my very first HP experience! I know a lot of you are probably saying "About time!" Haha!
Crap. Now I have to go through the what-to-wear sequence again. Groan.

Is there anything more awkward than a first blind date?
Methinks not.
Since the one I'm interested in doesn't feel the same about me, I have decided to take the plunge into internet dating. Good grief. How pathetic am I? Pathetic but extremely lonely.
So tonight after a good hour of chosing and rejecting every piece of clothing I own, I met up with Colin. Turns out he looks quite a bit like the bastard ex. Hmmm.
Anyway, we met up at Starbucks for coffee (he was five minutes late). He seemed quite normal which is always a good start. I tried not to be too much of a snob and focus on the baggy jeans and sneakers. Not my favourite look on a man.
Then we meandered over to see Knocked Up (movie review in sort, quite funny and a lot better than I expected).
Credits began to roll and he said "I need to go to the loo". I turned to get my bag and coat, turned back and he had gone. Ok.
Waited outside for him, had an awkward conversation with a couple who know my grandma. We then decided to go get something to eat. Walked around for awhile, bumped into some friends of his who gave me the look up and down - awkward. Finally ended up at Furnace, a new restaurant/bar/nightclub.
Very nice restaurant, would total reccommend it. Lovely design, very tidy bathrooms, great menu, very affordable, friendly staff and we got our meal within 10 minutes of ordering!
Pleasant conversation throughout dinner, mainly about the dinner. We then paid, I insisted we go halves (first dates are so awkward!) He paid first then when I was putting my card away in my purse, I look up and he's already outside holding the door for me! Then a walk back to our cars.
He walked past his back to mine. We commented on the nice evening. He said something about doing it again sometime. I waited to see if there would be a hug or peck or something. Nope. Ok. He tooted as he drove past at the lights. And now I'm having a moment where I really wish I had three friends named Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, to suss out exactly how the evening went! But I don't so am blogging. Am thinking of renaming my blog, by the way, to "No Sex and the City".
Hmm...will have to see if I hear from him I guess. I am no way experienced in the world of dating and this whole thing is really AWKWARD!
He seems lovely. Very intelligent, not into sport, could be a good dresser, likes Rialto movies!
But what does he think of me?!
Oh crap. I'll continue later, he's just come online! Moment of truth time!

Yay! Just got an email about the Grease singalong!
It's on Friday 21st September at Victoria Cinema. Tickets should be about $30 and they are going to go FAST, believe me!
If you want to come - and trust me, you do! - let me know ASAP so I can make sure we get tickets.
It will be a fantastic and crazy night with nibbles and all constant wine top ups! As well as getting to watch a fabulous film of course!
I have dibs on going as Frenchie!

Who needs expensive therapy?!
So, I'm about a hundred years behind everyone else. But have finally finished watching the entire series of Sex And The City. This is mainly because, when I was living at home, my Mum would say "I'm not having that filth on in my house!" Then I became a growed up and discovered the reruns on late at night and became addicted. Much to Mum's horror, when she came over one night and I was watching the dvd and a Samantha scene came on. Mum then left. lol
And although I hate to admit something so modern and popular could actually help me, I have to.
So, it turns out that everytime a guy does something scummy and I get upset (which is all too frequently) I'm not actually the psycho-bitch they say I am! Go figure!
At least now I know I don't have to feel bad for having feelings when someone I like starts ignoring me except for when he feels like spending time with me. I am not a call girl. Yes, I love Breakfast At Tiffany's, but I have no desire to actually live my life like it! In this age of modern technology - email, txt, Bebo, MySpace, FaceBook etc - "busy" is not a valid excuse.
I also love the fact that there are other women out there with shoe obsessions worse than mine. I mean, I have no interest in labels and wouldn't dream of paying $485 US for a pair of Manolo Blahnik's! Not when I can get a similar looking pair at NO1 for $30!
I have also found out what's missing from my life: a sexy older Russian artist who will read me poetry, write me a song and whisk me away to live with him in Paris.
And the pink dress Carrie was wearing when she was off to the final dinner with the girls. I swear my heart actually skipped a beat!

Just what I need when I feel like crap
From the "Too cute!" files:
http://toothfairyland.blogspot.com/
Am thinking I may add a fairy letter writing service to the fairy business. I would have loved a letter from the Tooth Fairy when I was little. Heck, I still would!
The new website is also up and running (finally!) Technology and I do not mix!
http://www.fairyjanine.co.nz/
And my personalised plate and some sparkly business cards are also on their way!
AND my new fairy dress. Hopefully it'll be ready in time for my party this Saturday in the Ghett...I mean Tokoroa.

Was this written for me?
To every girl that dresses cute, not skanky.
To every girl who wants to be called beautiful, not Fine.
To every girl that will spend her whole day looking for the perfect present for you.
To every girl who gets her heart broken, because he chose that bitch instead.
To every girl that would die to have a decent boyfriend.
To every girl who would just once like to be treated like a princess.
To every girl that cries at night because of another heartbreak.
To every girl that won't get down on her knees and open her mouth just to get a boyfriend.
To every girl that just wants to hold hands.
To every girl that kisses him with meaning.
To every girl who just wishes he cared more.
To every girl who would just once want a guy to give their jacket up when they are cold.
To every girl who just wants him to call.
To every girl who lies awake at night thinking about him.
To every girl that just wants to cuddle.
To every girl that just wants to sleep with him without having sex.
To every girl that is SCARED to put her heart out there again, because she has been HURT too many times or so badly.
To every girl who shows how much she cares and gets nothing back.
To every girl that thought 'maybe this one could be the one'.
To every girl that laughs at stupid stuff when she actually doesn't think it is funny.
To every girl who is just looking for that one and only and is having a rough time along the way.
To every girl that has been cheated on, because she's not a slut who gives it up to any guy.
To every girl that doesn't want a guy who just plays with her emotions but actually cares about how she feels.
To every girl who wants words backed up with actions.
To every girl that fell for all the lies only to find themselves alone in the end.
To every girl that gave her heart away to have it shoved back in her face.
To every girl that has faith that "tomorrow will be a better day."
And it will be.
To every girl who wants to be called beautiful, not Fine.

When will Hollywood learn?
You DO NOT take a classic series of books which most people over 20 read as children and try and turn them into a modern day film set in modern times! It does not work!
Ok, admitedly I knew Nancy Drew was going to be bad, but I was bored and I don't want to end up seeing Shrek 3 a million times, so I thought I'd give Nancy a try. I mean, she's a 1950s girl living in the 21st century...sound familiar to anyone? But, it does not work. I'd solved the mystery within half an hour, the charcters were just annoying, and the only similarity to the books was that there was a character named Nancy Drew who solved mysteries. Did love her Roadster though. I could definately see myself driving one of those! In pink though! :p
The best thing about the film was the trailer on it beforehand - they've remade Hairspray! Oh my goodness, I am so excited! And John Travolta is playing Tracy's mother! It should be a scream. I can't wait!
Meanwhile, Rialto is showing some brilliant films right now and yet we are absolutely dead. Starter For 10 is one that should be bringin' the youngin's in these holidays, but it's not.
James McAvoy is popping up in a lot of our films lately, and he is very, very good. I didn't actually like any of the characters in this film, but it was very funny and makes me realise just how glad I am to have only have come along in the latter part of the 80s sparing me from the heinous fashion crimes committed in this decade! Blurgh!
Ah well, we have the International Film Festival coming up next month which we are all looking forward to. But if we don't get La Vie En Rose I will be extremely grumpy.
Oh and if 'Film Festival Guy' comes back (a.k.a my former future husband) he can forget it. I gave him an invitation to our party and he didn't show. So nice arms or not, we're over! Well, it was worth a shot, right Leigh?!
Ok, onto my tv rant. Now I have missed most of season seven of Gilmore Girls but the episodes I have caught have really annoyed me.
I am going to go against everything we have been taught to believe and say that Lorelai belongs with Christopher. Luke is just bugging me now.
And what the hell was Rory thinking turning down Logan! Admitedly, I am still a Dean fan, but come on! Did you see the size of that rock! That, and Rory and Logan both annoy me too, so they belong together.
The only characters I still love are Emily and Richard. Loved their "You're the Top" serenade last night. Go Cole Porter! Unfortunately, we've barely seen them this season. Am disgusted with the new writers. They also let a prime Fiddler on the Roof joke slip past last night, which Amy and Dan would not have, considering they have referenced Fiddler several times in the series!
Oh, am also loving Paris and Doyle. But why has Rory turned into a "normal" American girl and made friends with those two airheads?! Rory just isn't Rory anymore :( April is now Rory, which doesn't even make sense.....but don't get me started!
Being a diehard fan though, I guess I will buy season seven on dvd to complete my collection and will reserve final judgement until I have actually seen the whole season!
Oy with the poodles already!

Clothes don't maketh the man, but how about the woman?
So, I have stumbled on a new website which I predict will end up costing me a fair bit of moolah in the longrun - http://www.mrvintage.co.nz/
Everyone knows I love my cheesey slogan tshirts and this site has some fab ones...a little pricey, but ah well!
Here's my wishlist:

Who remembers Rainbow Brite?! I don't but I know she was my favourite! I had a rocking horse with multi-coloured polka dots that I called Star Brite after Rainbow's horse!
While I'm being a petulant only child and saying "I want! I want! I want!" I also want some Barbie Fairyoke Wings. They are so cool! Fairies are definately "in" right now!
