I am nicely settled into my new house now, so things have finally calmed down a bit! Am still job hunting though, so the stress levels remain high.
No luck so far. Have had a couple more interviews where I was second choice, and the job was given to someone with more experience. :(
Am very keen to become a receptionist / secretary and marry my bosws in the true 1950s fashion.......laugh if you will, but I'm serious! I still have no desire to be a career woman. That said, I still don't want to be an unemployed bum!
I have my fingers crossed for a receptionist role at a local chocolate factory.....mmmmm...now that's a job!
Te Awamutu job vacancies are few and far between, as I found when i went around town (ie the main street) handing out cvs. I did however make a connection at the local Video Ezy. The guy who owns it is a sweetheart (too old even for my tastes though) and has offered me first pickings at new release dvds when they go on sale! "Because I come in all the time" - this was on my second trip in! He's also keeping an ear out for me if any jobs come up anywhere.
TA is just great. I'm definately going to like the small country town life.
Not only do I have a spectacular view of the mountain from my kitchen window, but I actually heard a cow mooing the other morning! Very bizarre when you're a true blue city girl like moi!
And for everyone who calls it a little hick town, I'll have you know we have a 24hr McDonalds! Now that's class.
Miss Belle is settling in very well, and the chewing of expensive things has decreased dramatically! Yay! My landlady, who is a sweet old duck and lives next door is very taken with her, and looked after her for me the first couple of days while I stayed at mum's waiting for a bathroom to be installed.
Lily of the Belly has only spent one night in a hutch while living with me prior to this, and boy was she not amused! Especially since it was raining. Bunnies and wet do not go together as judged best in this picture of Miss Belle while her mummy was moving stuff out of the old house and had to lock her in the bathroom to keep her out of the way......
Yes, I actually walked in, saw her, ran and got the camera to take pics and THEN rescued her. Bad mama.
She was not amused and promptly installed herself under the bed for the rest of the day!

My friend Lexie got myself, Naughty Natty and Emma to act as entertainment for her work do the other weekend. Too much fun getting dressed up but a very hard crowd who weren't all that interested in us unfortunately. Still a gig is a gig and this one was paid!

That weekend was also the weekend I lost a friend....well, he never has been much of a friend - unless it suits him that is. Ah well, c'est la vie etc.
Would've been nice though if he had come through on his OFFER to build Lily a hutch for our temporary displacement, instead of leaving me to drive round and round the Waitakere Ranges after a long day at work, trying to find the address of a lady who sold cheap ones. $120 later plus $60 for petrol and 4 odd hours of being completely and utterly lost I was understandably frustrtated and upset and managed to back my uncle's car into a light post. Not impressed.
Anyway, anyone want to buy a hutch? Mama needs some shoes! lol
And finally some reviews of the 31st NZ Film Festival and Rialto's last hurrah.
The Wave - fabulous! A study by a group of German schoolkids creates a Nazi like wave that gets out of hand. Very powerful.
Jinx Sister - NZ film. So slow I only made it through 45mins before I fell asleep. (I got to watch these on dvd as, well, a duty manager has to have some perks)!
Up the Yangtze - Doco about young Chinese kids working on the cruise boat sailing the dam which is leaving their villages homeless. Ok ish.
The Art Star and the Sudanese Twins - Doco which saw me asleep faster than Jinx Sister.
Anita O'Day: The Life of a Jazz Singer - I actually only saw the first half hour because I was kinda working! But it looked like it would be a fabulous watch. Hopefully i'll stumble across a dvd copy sometime.
O'Horton - described by one critic as the funniest film ever made. Perhaps if the only other film you have seen in your life is Schindler's List! Didn't stay awake for this one either! And didn't so much as crack a smile.
Be Kind Rewind - So far the only one I've watched in the cinema with an audience! And it was fab. Very funny and such a good idea! Am warming to Jack Black, but still prefer his more serious acting in films like The Holiday...not that you cally call that serious, but you know what I mean!
I am the most excited about seeing The Adventures of Robin Hood made in 1938 and starring Errol Flynn and the fabulous Olivia De Havilland. It's about time some rare classics made it into the programme.
Opening for general release after the festival that I want to see (so will wait till then) are The Counterfeiters, Paris and Married life.
I'm gutted to have missed Animation For Kids, A Complete History of My Sexual Failures, Flight of the Red Balloon, L'Invite, Let's Say, The Savages and Teeth.
Saw the first 15 mins of Teeth and by George it looks freaking hilarious! Sounds it too, from the account I got from my workmate Jessticles. Basically, it's about a pure young virgin who discovers that she has a nasty set of chompers between her legs, so look out fellas!
Anyway, this is Rialto's last shebang before we close (sniff sniff) so get your derrieres in here and watch some great film before Hamilton is left only with the modern unoriginal blockbuster rubbish supplied by SkyCity!
