More movies.....

Ok, so not only do I apparently look like Kate Winslet with full stage makeup on (?????), I am her character Iris, in The Holiday. Kinda depressing, coz she at least found Jack Black in the end. Me, well it's New Year's Eve and I'm going to be mooching on the couch watching dvds all night. Alone. Ah well. Let's just say it's a good thing cinemas are dark when a character starts talking about your life and feelings! luckilly the blubbering made my contact fall out, so I missed the second half of the depressing monologue trying to locate it!
Anyway, surprisingly enough, despite that "strumming my pain with his fingers" moment, I really liked the film. What a great chick flick!

However, unlike Kate Winslet, I know that Cary Grant was not from Surrey. HE WAS FROM BRISTOL YOU PLONKERS!!!!!!!!!! How could they get a fact like that wrong?! It took all my self control not to yell at the screen lol.

Yes, anyway, despite that big black mark, great film.

I also saw Copying Beethoven, which I'm sure would have been a great film had I a better knowledge of music, composition and the maestro himself. To my uneducated eye, it was a little slow moving, but had it's moments though. I'd give it, maybe......*** 1/2.

Ok, so am off to work now. Then it's back home to eat chocolate, watch the stack of dvds I bought yesterday and feel sorry for myself.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

I should be doing housework

But, I can't be bothered, so am blogging instead!
Have decided to put reviews of movies I've seen on here, just for something to do.

Ok, The Queen is brilliant. I wouldn't have the guts to play such a high profile person who's still alive! But Helen Mirren does a fabulous job - but of course, we all knew she would. And if she doesn't win the Oscar, I'm going to throw something at someone! One complaint - Prince Charles isn't ugly enough! lol

And the one I've been waiting for since I saw the trailer on March of the Penguins - Happy Feet. Took Mum along the other day since she shares my love of penguins, and because she's a tap dancer's mother lol. So cute! Then about half way through it got kinda heavy which I wasn't really expecting, so could happilly have done without. And there were some pretty scary bits too, which I don't think I could have handled at age 5! I hate humans. We suck. But being half fairy, of course I don't consider myself completely human! :p Baby penguins are just the cutest. And Mumble's parents are the penguin versions of Elvis and Marilyn! Love it!

Ok, send the Cancer guys my way please!

Your True Love Is a Cancer
Why you'll love a Cancer:
Cancer's loyal and sincere heart makes your own sensitive heart melt.Caring and devoted, a Cancer will take the lead in pursuing you - and not give up!

Reflections

Well, as another year draws to an end, I think to myself, exactly what have I done with my life this year?

* Had a leading role in my first full Shakespeare play.
* First show with Playbox.
* Got a promotion at work.
* Started my own business.
* Graduated.
* Dropped out of my Honours degree.
* Finally got a cat after 21 years of wanting one. Am allergic.
* Was in a short film.
* Went to a sex toy party!
* Reached the 100 mark in my shoe tally.

Not bad I guess. Thought I would have done more though.
OK, so what do I want from 2007 then?

* Get full license after 4 years on my restricted.
* Find a man who won't cheat on me. Just for a change.
* Tone up tummy so I can....
* Get belly button pierced.
* Start saving for my Italy trip.
* Get dvd collection up to my former video collection's standard.
* Get all 72 of Cary's films on dvd. Only 61 to go. Dammit.
* Work my way through the Kama Sutra ;)
* Become a real domestic goddess and learn to cook.

* Turn 21 again, and actually have a party this time!

Will update as I think of more.

Frank Kelly's Christmas Countdown

I heard this on the radio yesterday and it had me in absolute hysterics - not a good thing, since I was driving at the time!
Anyway, I have to share with you the Irish 12 Days of Christmas:

Day One
Dear Nuala,

Thank you very much for your lovely present of a partridge in a pear-tree. We’re getting the hang of feeding the partridge now, although it was difficult at first to win its confidence. It bit the mother rather badly on the hand but they’re good friends now and we’re keeping the pear-tree indoors in a bucket. Thank you again.
Yours affectionately,
Gobnait O’Lúnasa

Day Two
Dear Nuala,

I cannot tell you how surprised we were to hear from you so soon again and to receive your lovely present of two turtle doves. You really are too kind. At first the partridge was very jealous and suspicious of the doves and they had a terrible row the night the doves arrived. We had to send for the vet but the birds are okay again and the stitches are due to some out in a week or two. The vet’s bill was £8 but the mother is over her annoyance now and the doves and the partridge are watching the telly from the pear-tree as I write.
Yours ever,
Gobnait

Day Three
Dear Nuala,
We must be foremost in your thoughts. I had only posted my letter when the three French hens arrived. There was another sort-out between the hens and the doves, who sided with the partridge, and the vet had to be sent for again. The mother was raging because the bill was £16 this time but she has almost cooled down. However, the fact that the birds’ droppings keep falling down on her hair whilen she’s watching the telly, doesn’t help matters. Thanking you for your kindness.
I remain,
Your Gobnait

Day Four
Dear Nuala,

You mustn’t have received my last letter when you were sending us the four calling birds. There was pandemonium in the pear-tree again last night and the vet’s bill was £32. The mother is on sedation as I write. I know you meant no harm and remain your close friend.
Gobnauit

Day Five
Nuala,

Your generosity knows no bounds. Five gold rings ! When the parcel arrived I was scared stiff that it might be more birds, because the smell in the living-room is atrocious. However, I don’t want to seem ungrateful for the beautiful rings.
Your affectionate friend,
Gobnait

Day Six
Nuala,

What are you trying to do to us ? It isn’t that we don’t appreciate your generosity but the six geese have not alone nearly murdered the calling birds but they laid their eggs on top of the vet’s head from the pear-tree and his bill was £68 in cash ! My mother is munching 60 grains of Valium a day and talking to herself in a most alarming way. You must keep your feelings for me in check.
Gobnait

Day Seven
Nuala,
W e are not amused by your little joke. Seven swans-a-swimming is a most romantic idea but not in the bath of a private house. We cannot use the bathroom now because they’ve gone completely savage and rush the door every time we try to enter. If things go on this way, the mother and I will smell as bad as the living-room carpet. Please lay off. It is not fair.
Gobnait

Day Eight
Nuala,

Who the hell do you think gave you the right to send eight, hefty maids-a-milking here, to eat us out of house and home ? Their cattle are all over the front lawn and have trampled the hell out of the mother’s rose-beds. The swans invaded the living-room in a sneak attack and the ensuing battle between them and the calling birds, turtle doves, French hens and partridge make the Battle of the Somme seem like Wanderly Wagon. The mother is on a bottle of whiskey a day, as well as the sixty grains of Valium. I’m very annoyed with you.
Gobnait

Day Nine
Listen you louser !There’s enough pandemonium in this place night and day without nine drummers drumming, while the eight flaming maids-a-milking are beating my poor, old alcoholic mother out of her own kitchen and gobbling everything in sight. I’m warning you, you’re making an enemy of me.

Gobnait

Day Ten
Listen manure-face,I hope you’ll be haunted by the strains of ten pipers piping which you sent to torment us last night. They were aided in their evil work by those maniac drummers and it wasn’t a pleasant sight to look out the window and see eight hefty maids-a-milking pogo-ing around with the ensuing punk-rock uproar. My mother has just finished her third bottle of whiskey, on top of a hundred and twenty four grains of Valium. You’ll get yours !

Gobnait O’Lúnasa

Day Eleven
You have scandalised my mother, you dirty Jezebel,It was bad enough to have eight maids-a-milking dancing to punk music on the front lawn but they’ve now been joined by your friends ~ the eleven Lords-a-leaping and the antics of the whole lot of them would leave the most decadent days of the Roman Empire looking like “Outlook”. I’ll get you yet, you ould bag !

Day Twelve
Listen slurry head,You have ruined our lives. The twelve maidens dancing turned up last night and beat the living daylights out of the eight maids-a-milking, ‘cos they found them carrying on with the eleven Lords-a-leaping. Meanwhile, the swans got out of the living-room, where they’d been hiding since the big battle, and savaged hell out of the Lords and all the Maids. There were eight ambulances here last night, and the local Civil Defence as well. The mother is in a home for the bewildered and I’m sitting here, up to my neck in birds’ droppings, empty whiskey and Valium bottles, birds’ blood and feathers, while the flaming cows eat the leaves off the pear-tree. I’m a broken man.

Rialto Christmas Party 2006

Well, it's good to know my degree has been of some use to me; I won the prize for best actor at the Murder Mystery Dinner lol. Was a great evening, even though I ended up forgetting about trying to solve the case, as I became more and more involved in solving my 'family's' problems!

Anyway, here is a pic of the evening:

If you want me to email it to you, let me know your address :)

I am one exhausted fairy - 3 parties this weekend - a total of 43 kiddies....Oi Vey! But adding my holiday pay to the mix meant I felt very rich, hence you will note the growth in the shoe tally. I didn't even intend to buy any more shoes because I have nowhere to put them! But I went in to see Mum and got accosted by one of the girls who dragged me away to show me some "Janine shoes" and well...you can guess the rest. I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM! I CAN STOP WHENEVER I WANT TO!......I just don't want to...........

Highlight of the week: "I've never met a real fairy before. Now I can go home and tell my Mum I have." Aww bless.

Lowlight of the week: trying to understand men. And they say we're complicated!!!!!

Best decision of my life!

To become a fairy. I had such a fab today today. Stopped off on my way to the party to buy tickets to Giselle for tomorrow night (can't wait), and was of course in fairy mode - minus the wings though, because if you've ever tried to drive in wings you'll know how difficult it is! - and a little boy, about 3 years old, came in with his Mum and was just gobsmacked to see this fairy in the Hillcrest Library! Anyway, I went over and gave him a lollipop and he was stoked; then when he was leaving he came up to me and said, "Bye, Fairy." Absolutely made me melt!

Then came the actual party and it was a blast! The girls really believed I was a real live fairy! So, so cool. They asked me all sorts of questions about fairies, magic and Fairyland and actually believed all the random stuff I made up off the top of my head. The last party I did - also the 1st - the kids were just happy to go along with 'the grown up in a costume' bit, so today was really special. I got lots of hugs, including one from the birthday girl when she opened the present I gave her (a fairy book with a special inscription from Fairy Janine) because now she'll "remember me forever"! Awwww! And another little girl is looking forward to me visiting her tonight with my best friend Claire, the Tooth Fairy lol.

Not bad considering Katie, the birthday girl is a huge Bratz fan and thought a Brat was coming to her party!

Also got the acceptance letter from the producer of 'Annie', I'm in and I'm playing Mary (who the giddy Mary is, I do not know!) and a maid servant, so am stoked about that.

Wonderful, wonderful day :)

I'm a Christian. Are you? Really?

OK, so I've just watched Wife Swap with the screaming "Christian" woman who goes absolutely psycho.
Am so frustrated! It is so called "Christians" like this who give the rest of us a bad name and have made me decide to stop attending Mass every Sunday. I still consider myself a Catholic, but I get so annoyed going to Mass and seeing the hypocrisy of a lot of people who make themselves out to be so very Godly and pious, but are nothing of the sort in reality. You only have to try and get out of the parking lot to see what I mean!
Now, I am by no means perfect, as a person or a Christian, but I try my best; which means accepting other people the way they are, respecting them!!!!! As I hope they will respect me and my beliefs and not judging them - that's God's job for goodness sake, you just need to take care of yourself! and try not to push people away from God with insane ramblings and annoying harrassment!
So if any of you reading this are what I consider hypocritical Christians, you may like to have a think about the basis of Christianity - Love thy neighbour!!!! Grrrr!!!!!!
That's all. God bless :)

I wasn't going to add anymore, but this one compared me to Holly Golightly (aka Audrey!)

Your Seduction Style: Prized Object

The seduction game you play is tried, true, and still effective: hard to get.
You know that the best seducers turn the tables - and get their crush to seduce them.
The one running has the power, and you're a challenge that is worth the chase.

You are a master of enticing and pulling back. Giving a little and taking some away.
You are controlled enough to know rewards come after a long seduction dance.
Even though you want to call, email, or say "I love you" first - you don't!

You're style is the perfect mix of hot and cold - so much so that you have many suitors.
Think Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's ... or any of those creepy guys from the Bachelor.
You're skilled at inspiring a chase. The real test is picking the person to slow down for.

Procrastinators Anonymous

You Are a Mermaid

You are a total daydreamer, and people tend to think you're flakier than you actually are.
While your head is often in the clouds, you'll always come back to earth to help someone in need.
Beyond being a caring person, you are also very intelligent and rational.
You understand the connections of the universe better than almost anyone else.

Blogthings is proving to be a very good means of procrastinating. It's nearly 2pm and I had planned to go to the post office to send of some Trademe sales; get a few more accessories for my 1920s costume; exchange a pair of shoes I bought for a pair that actually fits; do some dishes and start my christmas cards before work at 4:30pm. So far, I've taking dozens of silly Blogthings quizzes. I blame the weather. It's blah, so i'm feeling Blah. Blah.
Barnaby's also driving me nuts. He whines to be let out, so I let him out. Then 2 seconds later, he whines to be let in, so I let him in and then 2 seconds later......He's doing it on purpose I'm sure.
And my back hurts. I slept funny last night. Gosh I'm a grumpy cow today.

Well, I've at least found a pic to put on my Christmas card labels:

Isn't he gorgeous!? Kinda captures my mood today lol

Ok one more:

Hehe! As if we didn't already know!

You Belong in 1958

If you scored...

1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.

1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!

1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.

1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

Here's one for the Rialto bunch.....

Ok, I found this one on the blogthings site, and it's the last one, I promise!.....Maybe...

Ok, well it look as though I may suffer from OBD (Obsessive Blogging Disorder) for a few days.

Latte Tim Tams are evil.

Am getting pretty excited about our work Christmas do which is coming up on the 14th - a 1920s Murder Mystery party. Now, those of you who know me will know that I am somewhat obsessed with the 20s, so you will also know that I am issues deciding what to wear as my costume chest is chocca with 20s stuff! It may come down to the outfit I wore to the Riverlea Christmas show (dress courtesy of Pagani - also evil. I went in the other day to browse and ended up laybuying a beautiful full length ballgown!) complete with actual gloves from the 20s! Hehe, I'm such a nerd.

But then again, so was Julie in Thoroughly Modern Millie - such a silly film.....I LOVE IT!

Oh great. Am starting to itch again. I gave in and Let Barnaby sit on my lap :( My poor baby cat.

My rant for the day. Library receipts. Simply a ploy to make money from people like myself who always lose the friggin' things! I could have sworn the cds I borrowed weren't due back for a few weeks yet, but no, I got a letter today saying I am being charged daily! GRRRR!!!!!!!!! Bring back the good ole stamps I say! Who's with me!?

Weather: Dark, cold and raining.

Wearing: Same as before.

Listening to: Les Miserables.

Shoes: Still 105.

Hmmmm I wonder how long this novelty will last!

Well, I read a note from the lovely Shambles that said to check out her blog, so I did, and here I am with my own! I am a sheep. Baaaa.

Well, this blog probably won't last that long, so enjoy it while it lasts!

So, my life at the moment. I'm currently undergoing vigourous duty manager training at good ole Rialto; scary, but I have a trusty lil notebook to write copious amounts of notes in, so I should be fine!

I'm also allergic to my cat, Barnaby :(

How poos is that!? I've wanted a cat for 21 years and now I have one, I can't cuddle him beacuse I break out in a horrible, itchy, bumpy rash! So, if you know of anyone who would love a beautiful 6 year old - quite loopy - tomcat, send them my way. Sniff.

I went to my film premiere the other night. Oh my goodness, student films SUCK! Well, not all, there were (minimal) exceptions, but what a drawn out torture! Bevan's film was in the 2nd half so we couldn't even leave at halftime! Anyway, I have always said I never want to be a screen actress, and now I can finally say that I have tried it and...it's just as bad as I thought! And not just the having to watch yourself business, but it misses the energy that comes from a live audience and the need to film each little segment of about 4 lines of dialogue 150 times to get it from every angle.....boring! Then there's my favourite; not getting the chance to dig yourself out of a hole in front theaudience when you or someone else goofs it! I LOVE that! Well, an experience is an experience, and I guess I am glad that I did it. Big ups to Bevan too, his film was great.

Anyway, my next big stage endeavour is a show very near and dear to my heart. Yes, folks, the one that started it all.....Annie. For those of you who haven't been fortunate enough to hear the story, my first taste of theatre was at the tender age of four, when my grandma took me to the Founders' to see this show. We were seated fourth row, aisle, and had chocolate coated peanuts to munch on; there was an orchestra in the pit and then this little girl (and a dog!!!) came onstage and started to sing and dance and act and she was having such fun up there, that I decided right then, that this was my calling, and "a star was born." Hehe!

So there we are. However. What of the slight problem I have with auditions? Hmm. Yes people, I have an amazing voice (modest I know), but I CANNOT sing in front of people! At least not until I've been selected for a role and have had 3 months of rehearsal. Yes, I suck at musical auditions. And to make it worse they don't let me dance anymore at Riverlea auditions, because they know I can! Meanie poos! That's the part of the audition I have the least trouble with!

I went over to my friend and singing teacher, Niky's yesterday for some help. What I will do when she moves to Welly, I do not know! :( Anyway, i think I'm sussed. The answer: props, costume and the mantra, "I am Grace. I am Grace."

Audition on the 9th, callbacks on the 10th. Wish me luck. I'll need it!!!!
