Two nights out in a row! I'm acting like a 23 year old!

So, last night was the long awaited girls night out to see the Sex and the City movie.
Turns out, I really need to stop getting to excited about things, coz they never turn out as good as I hope.

The movie was....good. Kept me enthralled for 2.5 hours; I laughed; I nearly cried....other peoples' giggling at inappropriate moments stopped that; and I was among the many green eyed women who gasped when Carrie's new closet was revealed! I think that was my favourite bit. The entire audience reacting like that, was just fabulous!

I usually hate watching a movie at the cinema with lots of other people, but a film like this with such a cult following, was the sort of movie you need to see with heaps of other fans.
However, I got a bit annoyed with the giggles that came during serious and sad bits.

Overall, it didn't quite capture the same tone as the tv series, and I was disappointed with the treatment of Charlotte - my favourite character. The only character who had found true happiness and love was sort of cast aside and there mainly for some rather unfair comic relief.
Not amused with the toilet humour. And the same joke repeated over and over and over again with the dog. Amusing the first time, not the 6th.

Oh, and worst of all, the image of Miranda and Steve having sex is forever imprinted on my brain! It was not pretty! Now, I'm no prude (seriously, I'm not!) so sex on tv is tolerable, but when it's that big, and that explicit, and you're sitting five rows from the front, it's just plain nasty!

And Charlotte's baby names......so my baby names!!!

The very tense moment in the film.....not going to say, for those of you who haven't seen it yet, was done really well. Loved it. But again, some giggling ruined it.

Dresses, shoes and bags featured, were of course, fabulous! And I'm so excited that you can RENT designer purses! I definately plan to do that in NY next year, so I can walk in to Manolo Blahnik and look like I belong there when I go to buy my once in a lifetime, ridiculously priced shoes!

Kind of disappointed that on the film's opening night, more women weren't dressed up to see it.
Why don't people like getting dressed up?!
I of course was dressed to the nine's. Why not?! After all the entire point was to make an entire event out of it, so after the film, my friends and I headed over to the casino for ....yup, you guessed it.....cosmopolitans! Now, I am definately not a drinker, but was determined to try one...and by golly, it was delicious! And pink! Gotta love that! And we really loved the fact that we all go ID'd at the door! Fabulous, considering at 23 I was the youngest in the group by about 9 years! That really made our night!
Only had one cosmo, and although I didn't feel it last night, I definately felt a little heavy headed this morning!

By the way, I don't know the name of the covers band playing at the casino last night, but they were freaking awesome!

Was a very good night out though....and despite my criticisms of the film, I did enjoy it and will be seeing it at the movies a few more times before buying the dvd!

Oh, and passionfruit choctops are absolutely DIVINE!!!!!!

And tonight, I am off on what is really my first ever proper date!
Bevan is picking me up to go out to dinner at the restaurant right down his street! It's a nice one too, so will be getting a bit glammed up tonight too!
In the past, I have been asked out to dinner, then been asked to drive.....to Pizza Hut.....and then pay for my own, because "I'm a bit short this week." Not cool. So tonight will be a real treat!

Am a little giddy with excitement to be honest! Hehe!

Nothing to do at work blog

Ho hum. I have a CA and a projie today, so have not a lot to do today.
I did use the opportunity to go and hunt down the perfect dress to wear this Friday night....but everything is U.G.L.Y.
Not impressed.
Was looking forward to having something new....but it looks as though I will be wearing something old....yet still fabulous.

So, where am I going on Friday, I hear you ask. Well, I have a new man-toy in my life and he is taking me out to dinner.

His name.....(OK, a little gushing will commence in 5...4...3...2....) is Bevan, he's 29, works as a manager at a tyre warehouse, and he is an absolute sweetheart. Not at all like the useless, arrogant, selfish, lying, insensitive pricks I usually fall for.
So far, he has earned many brownie points opening doors, walking me to my car, bringing me chocolates, telling me I look nice.....Yup. I think he may be a keeper. LilyBelle took to him quite well also, nibbling his socks then climbing on his knee.

I also need something fabulous to wear tomorrow night, when the girls and I hit the town to see SATC and sip cocktails...before getting home at a reasonable hour as we all have work the next morning! Should be oodles of fun.

Speaking of movies, I finally saw a Rialto film yesterday with Mum. How About You, is a lovely Irish film about a group of cranky old people in a resthome. Very funny and sweet. However, it closes today, so I recommend it as a good lazy afternoon dvd to get out.
